What Micro Four Thirds means in practice
A Micro Four Thirds sensor at 20.3MP doubles the effective focal length of any lens mounted on it, so telephoto reach comes cheaply in both size and money and wide-angle coverage costs more of both. It is the smallest of the three formats here, and the systems built around it are correspondingly compact.
Video and stabilisation
4K tops out at 30p, which covers standard delivery but leaves no room for slowing footage down. 10-bit recording internally means colour survives grading rather than banding when pushed.
In-body stabilisation steadies any lens mounted on it, including primes with no stabilisation of their own.
